More work is being created outside the institutions that once controlled how it was made. As AI becomes part of everyday work, the systems around ownership, rights and organizational knowledge have not kept pace.
FOUR/AM is a studio for system design. We work with companies to design and develop systems for people and agents, with independent ownership at their core. Our research takes shape through this work and through systems of our own.
Landline grew out of our own practice, applying our research and design to the knowledge, decisions and context a company gathers over time. It gives that knowledge a place within the company, with a record of where it came from and how it changes.
We designed Landline so people and agents can work from shared context, while the knowledge accumulated through their work remains a company-owned resource. That knowledge stays independent of any one platform and available to build on as the company evolves.
We work with companies to understand how they work and shape the systems they need next. An engagement can begin with an open question, a new idea or a change in how the company wants to operate.
Our work brings research, design and development together, from defining the problem to building and refining the system. Each engagement takes shape around the company’s people, knowledge and ambitions, drawing on our existing systems where they provide a useful foundation.
